Below is a step-by-step guide for creating a multilingual Shopify store with Weglot.
To see it, click on the “Visit your website” button. Otherwise, click on “Go to Weglot app settings” to start customizing your Weglot setup.
The next stage is to add your subdomains for improved SEO, e.g. https://fr.mywebsite/.
To do this you will need access to your domain name provider and the section or page where you can manage the DNS.
Check out our tutorial videos from popular domain name providers to help you with this step.
Create new CNAME entries with the ‘host’ as the 2 letter language code of the language you’ve added to your store, and then point it to websites.weglot.com.
Once you added and saved your entries return to your Weglot App settings in the Shopify dashboard and follow the simple setup instructions once you’ve clicked ‘Activate subdomains.
On the left sidebar, you will find everything you need to customize your Weglot setup: how to edit the language switcher button, activate the auto-switch option, and exclude specific content from translation.
To see all your content and start translating it, click on the “Edit my translations” button. If you don’t see your translations yet on the Weglot platform, please visit your store in the translated language to help Weglot detect all your content.
If you want to translate your email notifications (for instance, when a customer orders something from your store and automatically receives an email), please follow this tutorial.
Weglot allows you to translate your checkout process into any language. To do so, please follow this tutorial.
