Earlier this year, we announced we were now SOC 2 Type 1 compliant, a milestone that demonstrates our responsibility towards customer data. As part of our ongoing commitment, we’re proud to report that we are now officially certified as SOC 2 Type 2.

SOC 2 Type 1 compliance was the first step to demonstrating to new and existing Weglot customers that their information is handled securely and responsibly.

The second stage in that process, SOC 2 Type 2, verifies that all the policies and processes listed in SOC 2 Type 1 are in continuous use and approves that the controls we have in place are working correctly to protect sensitive data.

To achieve SOC 2 Type 2, an independent assessment of our security safeguards was carried out. This covered 5 total trust service principles, including security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.

Augustin Prot, co-founder, and CEO at Weglot said, “At Weglot, we have always taken great care to protect customer data and handle it appropriately with the right security controls. We’re now especially proud to receive the SOC 2 Type 2 attestation as further proof of the work we’re doing. This now gives added peace of mind to our customers that we’re working correctly to protect data.”

What is SOC 2?

SOC 2 compliance is a voluntary industry standard that specifies how organizations should manage customer data. Developed by the American Institute of CPAs, the standard is based on the following criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
